21C Frontier Program for Intelligent Robotics

Intelligent Robot Software Platform (or iRSP, for short) is a robotic development platform in which robotics developers build an intelligent robot. iRSP has been developed by Bonavision, Inc., as part of the 21C Frontier Program for Intelligent Robotics, a ten-year government initiative since 2003 sponsored by Korean Ministry of Knowledge Economy. It has applied to a series of robots such as the Infotainment robot, H-Robot and CIROS, as the standard research robot platfroms created by the FR21 program. It also runs on many other robotic including iRobot Create, LEGO NXT, and ER Scorpion.

English Teacher Support Robot Project

Hosted by MKE, KIST & Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH).

The program was launched by the Korean Government to test r-learning, and students in two elementary schools were taught English by the new robot teachers in late 2009. Government evaluations have concluded that the educational robot system had indeed helped students improve their English skills and increased students' interest and self-motivation. The 8-week pilot program showed that the robots have the potential to be an important part of English education in Korea.

This project is a part of the Korus Tech program of Ministry of Knowledge Economy in Korea, which aims at strengthening competitiveness of technologies and advancing industrial structure by yielding synergy effect from University-Industry-Institutes cooperation between Korea and U.S.
